Our Services

  • The Shockwave Therapy Process
  • Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
  • Sports Massage Therapy

ESWT creates and delivers mechanical waves of high energy acoustic pressure into a specific group of tissues. Each of these waves is termed a ‘shockwave’. These shockwaves have a profound effect on the human body’s healing capacity and there are years of research showing ESWT works to drastically enhance the innate healing response of the body.

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy treats all conditions relating to bones, joints, and muscles. Careful subjective and objective tests are performed to determine the root cause of injury. Rehabilitation is tailored to eliminate the source of pain, prevent re-injury, and allowing pain-free functional performance.

Sports massage therapy is a form of bodywork geared toward participants in athletics. It is used to help prevent injuries, to prepare the body for athletic activity and maintain it in optimal condition, and to help athletes recover from workouts and injuries. Sports massage has three basic forms: pre-event massage, post-event massage, and maintenance massage.

  • What exactly is physiotherapy?

If you are not quite sure what a physiotherapist does and how they can help you, then you are not alone. Unless you have previously been to a physiotherapist, there is a good chance that you might not know exactly what is a physiotherapist and what do they do. A physiotherapist is a allied health professional that promotes movement, helps ease pain and restore function. They assess a client’s condition and develop a treatment plan unique to that individual.

According to the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, the official description of a physiotherapist is, “The heart of the physiotherapy profession understands how and why movement and function take place. Physiotherapists are highly skilled and autonomous health care professionals who provide safe quality client-centred physiotherapy through a commitment to service availability, accessibility and excellence.” A physiotherapist works with people of all ages and treats a vast amount of health conditions.

  • What exactly does a physiotherapist do?

Physiotherapists are an important component in rehabilitation, treatment and prevention of acute and chronic conditions.  A physiotherapist uses a wide range of modalities to treat. Treatment can include manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, dry needling, shockwave therapy, blood flow restriction therapy and mechanical devices like ultrasound and tens machines.

  • Do I need a doctor’s referral to book an appointment?

You no longer need a doctor’s referral before seeing a physiotherapist. It is possible that your insurance company may require you to see a physician and obtain a referral before seeing a physio. However, in the majority of cases, people are free to book an appointment directly without a note from their doctor.

  • Is physiotherapy painful?

Physiotherapy shouldn’t hurt and is completely safe. Physiotherapy often activates deep tissue, and it’s quite possible that there will be some soreness after a treatment session. Stretching, deep tissue work and resistance exercise will often cause temporary soreness. It’s important to note that sometimes getting better requires some hard work.

  • What to expect on the first visit?

Physiotherapy is designed to treat you as an individual. A full assessment of your condition will take place on your first appointment. The physio will do a physical assessment that will include tests on strength, your range of motion, balance and restrictions. The physiotherapist will also review all relevant medical reports. Together with the client, the physiotherapist will set realistic and achievable goals. Your physio will begin by making a full treatment plan for your rehabilitation program and make a schedule of appointments.

  • Can physiotherapists eliminate my pain for good?

Pain is a defence mechanism that our bodies use to restrict motion and alert us to a problem. Physiotherapy cannot eliminate all pain related problems. Sometimes surgery or other medical interventions are necessary. However, in the vast majority of situations, physiotherapy can help to eliminate pain permanently. Physiotherapists will guide clients in steps they can take to stay pain-free in the future by altering the patterns and motions that originally caused the pain. We are also able to access and determine if other professions can better treat you either together with physiotherapy or independently and offer you a referral letter.

  • How frequent and how long?

Every situation is different. Some clients need no more than two or three visits to a physiotherapist. However, some clients such as stroke patients or those who have an acquired brain injury may see a physiotherapist for some years. The goal of every physiotherapist should be to eliminate the need for a client to see them. This means they need to provide professional and effective treatment that ensures a long-term solution to a client’s problem.

  • What are the most common problems they treat?

Physiotherapists treat a wide variety of issues. Some physiotherapists specialize in certain areas while others see a broad range of conditions. Knee, back, shoulder and neck soreness remain the most common treatments that a physiotherapist will see. Physiotherapists also work with stroke survivors, acquired brain injuries, post-operative orthopedic patients and sports injuries.

  • Cost of a consultation and ESWT session

$150 for 3 sessions (excluding physiotherapy charges)

Patients' Testimonials

Patients' Testimonials

I chanced upon this place through a friend's recommendation as I needed physiotherapy for my injured MCL. Timothy was my physiotherapist for the 5 months journey to recovery. Timothy was knowledgeable, helpful and funny. He always make sure to check how is my knee doing, the progress of my workout and which stage of recovery I am at. It really motivated me to want to work on my rehab religiously so that I could be back to my usual routine. The clinic is well equipped and I always enjoy my time doing the variety of exercises curated for me. We had a couple of sessions via tele-rehab due to COVID. They were very effective as well as Tim was able to record down my exercises and commented on what went well and what to improve. Price wise I think is reasonable for a private clinic in the heartland. After 5 months, I definitely come out stronger, knowing myself better and what I lack in training for my leg. I definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for physiotherapy. 🙂

Great location and the equipment were well maintained. I was attended by Norris, who has carried out detailed assessment regarding the clicking of my knee issue. He also shared with me the findings and recommended exercises to help strengthen my lower body. Norris also checks on me a week later regarding the exercises as well. Thank you! Will visit again for future physio services 🙂

I was able to heal from the chronic neck and shoulder pains as well as a temporary leg pain thanks to Heartland Rehab. Booking was efficient and the reminder messages were useful. Bala was always informative about the root cause of the pain, gave a few helpful exercises each time and they helped the pain to ease. The dry needling is not as scary as it might seem to first timers and it is very effective so I recommend it. Many thanks to Bala and Heartland Rehab!

I've been suffering from Cervical Spondylosis for many years and was recommended by a friend to Heartland Rehab. I've been seeing physiotherapist Gareth for treatment and I must say that I enjoyed my sessions with him. He is patient, sincere and most importantly, he serves with his heart. He listens to his patients and is always open to discussing the alternatives and working out solutions for my issue. We managed to pinpoint some root causes that may potentially be causing my pain and through dry needing and electrical stimulation treatments, coupled with the physio exercises, Gareth is able to help reduce my pain considerably! Thanks Gareth! 😊 👍 I was also been attended by Zhen Fang as part of my sports therapy treatment after my long distance charity bike ride. She is also attentive and friendly. She makes sure that I'm comfortable with the treatment and works on my problematic muscles effectively! Thanks Zhen Fang! 😄 🌻
